Hello! I hope you are all well. I recently went into the studios with my cousin, Susie Mills, who did some beautiful backing vocals for me on my album ‘Out of the Ashes’. We went to Crown Lane Studio again and as a big fan of Taylor Swift, she recorded a version of ‘Love story’ as well as recording one of her own songs. Susie has just turned 18 and is a very talented young singer/songwriter/musician with a beautiful and inspiring faith whom I truly look forward to seeing develop, and grow in her giftings and faith over the coming years.
I want to encourage you not to be afraid to encourage others, to build them up and to long to see them develop and grow. For years I was bound by jealousy and fear that someone would be better than me. Anytime someone came along who sang better than me I just couldn’t stand it. However, God has taught me that I don’t have to be anyone else but me! He’s given me specific purposes for my life, and the gifts to fulfill them. I don’t need to be jealous or annoyed at anyone else’s gifting.
Recently I heard a message on UCB radio that talked about being afraid that there won’t be enough blessing to go around – if we see someone else’s ministry being blessed, we can sometimes worry that it might mean there’s not as much blessing for us. But that isn’t true, we have an incredibly generous God who overflows His blessing and love. When we seek and follow Him, and live our lives to honour him, he blesses that!
I have learnt to enjoy seeing other people with amazing giftings, and to encourage others to develop, even if this means kneeling down, lifting them on my shoulders and helping them go much further than I could ever reach. When we are secure in who we are in Christ, confident in the gifting he has given us we then can experience the freedom to rejoice in others doing well.
It was a journey for me to get to this place but I am excited to see how I can help the next generation discover their God-given potential and to see God working amazingly through their lives.
I challenge you this week, if you see someone doing well and immediately have a negative reaction..to question why is that? I pray that you would be able to hand your insecurities over to God and to know that you have been ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ (Psalm 139) and that God has given you unique gifts and calling in your life…don’t be afraid to step into it!
Have a fantastic week!
