Hello! So it’s been a busy few weeks so just getting a chance to catch up and write my blog. We had a wonderful but busy weekend last week with all sorts of fun surprises for my Mum’s 60th birthday, including tea at Fortnum and Mason’s, and a trip to see Mamma Mia.
Firstly a big thank you to Geoff Howlitt for playing ‘Just as you are’ on BBC Radio Humberside last Sunday. It was exciting to turn on the radio and hear my song. As I talked about in my last blog I feel like I am in the place of waiting. Whereas the way to get heard in music is to do a hard sell, be gigging everywhere and plugging away I have felt God clearly say to me to be still and know that He is God – to see him move in ways that I know it is through his strength and will alone. This is incredibly hard for me and really testing. I am the sort of person who likes getting things done – who will rise to a challenge and is happy to plug away and graft. I know some people think I am insane (well probably a lot) , but I have felt God in this whole process. I have seen Him provide so I will keep trusting, believing and looking forward to what He has in store. Something else I like doing is planning working everything out and again this is an area that I have had to totally surrender to God – and believe that He has it all under control. I pray for any of you going through a similar period of waiting and trusting. I encourage you to keep going and listening to the still small voice of the Lord.
So while I am in a time of waiting I have the exciting privilege of helping a worship leader and very talented singer/songwriter record an EP. His name is Matt Rolfe, definitely an artist to be aware of in the coming years. I am captivated by his stunning voice and mellow and memorable songs. I heard him a couple of times and just knew we had to get him into the recording studio. This is a young man with a real anointing from the Lord. Let’s put it this way half way through his support act at my second launch event I was wondering how I would follow someone that good. It reminded me how far I have come in being able to rejoice in other peoples gifting and want to help them use them to the best of their abilities to encourage others and spread the word of God. It can be easy to feel threatened by some else’s abilities. But we don’t need to be. I have started to learn that when we find our identity in Christ alone we start to have a peace, a purpose, a joy. Knowing that God has a unique plan for our lives –this is so freeing. Let’s be a generation that wants the next generation to do even better – to be able to go further than we can. Let’s not hold back people but be encouragers, mentors, to be cheering them along.
